Dinner in a tavern
Matt came across this place on Google maps and got interested because of good reviews. So we stopped by on the first evening in London dressed in our travel clothes… I felt so out of place. This is one fancy tavern! Of course we got turned away (no tables available… Or was it our clothes?)
We were smarter next time. Properly dressed and with a reservation. But first, we decided to warm up with some beers in a place nearby called BrewDog.
From this angle those beers look huge… But they were in small tasting glasses, I promise!
Finally, we made it to Berners Tavern!
Matt is studying the menu
Appetizer #1: Pork pie being served
Pork pie on the plate
Appetizer #2: potato and parsley soup with a toast. There were some snails and blood pudding in that soup.
Main dish #1: Mac and cheese with ox cheeks
Main #2 was steak from Scotland. It looked just like a steak… No photo.
And dessert: flaming Alaska. It was actually on flame before this picture was taken
Some cocktails were also featured during this dinner
