Airlines suck, even in Hawaii
The second day in paradise started so well. We went to a cool powerlifting gym I had discovered on Instagram. Well, it wasn’t actually cool but rather hot and humid. Even so, the atmosphere and the equipment made up for sweaty conditions. I’ve never seen so many women lifting at the same time.
Afterwards, we had a few hours to kill before our flight to the Big Island. The most obvious thing to do was to hit the beach, which we did. After 30 minutes in the water, Matt managed to get burned. But it was a very pleasant experience nonetheless.
For lunch we got some poke. After a rigorous Google search we found a place with 5-star reviews (Ahi Assassins), and we made our way there with all our luggage in tow. I didn’t anticipate it to be a whole in the wall with no seating whatsoever, but eating lunch outside on the grass was actually not too bad, especially considering how delicious that poke was. We had to return to get more!
Well, that was the end of good stuff for the day as the rest of it was spent in a tiny teeny airport terminal. Our flight was cancelled (we suspect that it was due to not enough tickets sold. So don’t fly Island Air!) and we had to wait for 5 hours for the next one…
Well, we made it to Kona that day, and right now it’s all that counts.
Today is going to be a good day!
